APPLICATION

This is an application process to attend the upcoming Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Best Practices in First Nations Education Forum. 

NAN will sponsor:

  • one (1) teacher and two (2) education representatives from each NAN Education Partnerships Program First Nation Community
  • three (3) teachers from each NAN Education Partnerships Program participating School Board
    ** No travel will be provided for School Board Teachers. NAN is providing Teacher Release dollars only (upon receipt of invoice). Accommodations can be booked under rooming block code 191104NEFG at the Valhalla Inn
  • one (1) representative from each Tribal Council with communities within the NAN Education Partnerships Program.

All sponsored registrants on this system will be reviewed by NAN staff to ensure adherence to this criteria, and a confirmation will then be sent to all who are qualified. All are encouraged to register.

Please note: For NAN sponsored, registered delegates - expenses will be covered for meals not provided at the meeting and during travel.

ACCOMMODATION


PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES & COSTS - FIRST NATIONS

Travel, accommodations and meals will be covered for the following:  

  • 1 Teacher per participating EPP community. 
  • 2 Education representatives (Education Director, LEA, Principal etc.) 

Teacher release time will be available for 1 Teacher per participating EPP community at the rate of $250 per day to a maximum 5 days (2 travel days, 3 conference days).*Invoices will be required for reimbursement.  Please submit invoices to Phalen Iserhoff, [email protected]

If you are not a participating NAN EPP community you are welcome to attend, however you will be responsible for your own travel costs and accommodations OR a First Nation community letter of support to participate in the EPP program must be submitted with your registration form in order to have your travel covered. 

MEALS

Breakfast, Lunch and refreshments will be provided for 3 days for registered participants. Meal allowance will be provided for travel days. 

TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATIONS 

NAN will book all flight arrangements on your behalf. Please include your email address so we may email you your flight itinerary. Please print clearly. 

Accommodations are being made at the Airlane Hotel and Conference Center and the Valhalla Inn. To be placed on the NAN room block please submit your registration no later than October 22, 2019. We cannot guarantee a room will be available for any last-minute registration form submissions. 

In the event you require to cancel/reschedule any of your travel arrangements due to weather or unexpected issues arise, please notify us as soon as possible, so we may cancel/reschedule any travel arrangements.

Provincial School Board Teachers will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs.

 NAN will cover the costs associated to Teacher release time.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

By registering to attend this event you agree to assume the entire responsibility and hereby agree to protect, indemnify, defend and save Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN), TAG Creative Strategy and the owners and/or operators of the property wherein the event is held, as well as their respective agents, servants and employees harmless against all claims, losses for damages to property or persons, including death, governmental charges or fines and attorney’s fees, arising out of the performance of either party’s obligations, except for the willful misconduct or gross negligence of the other party.

I hereby consent to being photographed, filmed and having my likeness reproduced through the media and grant to NAN the right to reproduce, use, exhibit, display, broadcast, distribute, and create derivative works of the photographed images of me for use in connection with the activities of NAN for promoting, publicizing, or explaining NAN or its activities. This grant includes, without limitation, the right to publish such images in NAN publications as well as public relations/promotional materials such as advertisements, fund-raising materials, and any other NAN-related publication. These images may appear in any of the wide variety of formats and media now available to NAN and that may be available in the future, including but not limited to print, broadcast, videotape, CD-ROM, and electronic/online media.
